The online waiver process to bring a group of minors is an absolute nightmare. What should have taken a few minutes took days and multiple emails and, in the end, we had to print out some waivers and bring them with us rather than submitting them online because the online process is a train wreck. Not to mention that even the management/owners had not read their own waiver or understand the process themselves. To be fair here I will say that they told me that it is a new system - albeit no one there knew what it said or had tested it out before implementing it.
Mauhaus was great! I would try to do the $10 reservation online if you're going on the weekend, because it was fairly busy. You get a free drink with the reservation, which is nice. We were able to bring our food and drink inside and play with the cats at the same time. The staff person there was great and was able to tell us so much about the cats!
I had been wanting to check this place out ever since it opened, but it seemed whenever I looked they were booked up on reservations. I checked into it for my husbands birthday and they had many spots open so I was so excited. For the price of the reservation we each got a free drink and discounted food. The pumpkin pop art and curry squash hummus was so good, and since it was a nice day and we came early we sat outside to eat. We were able to get into the kitty lounge a little early and really enjoyed being around the adorable kitties. Everyone else we met in the lounge were so nice and we loved it. My husband says it is his new favorite cafe. We will definitely be going back!
This place is amazing! To start, they have the best staff! All of the workers there are super friendly. If you have any questions about the cats, the business, or any thing else, they will gladly answer. Also, they have the most amazing cats! While some get adopted almost as soon as they get in, the new cats that come in are also very sweet! My first time here was on my birthday, and I have been coming 2-3 times a week since. It is really a great place to relax and have a coffee or tea. (PS they have the best coffee!!!!!)
When we arrived at the cafe, there was one person working behind the counter to make drinks and prepare food. Since she had to hand make every drink and prepare every food order herself, it took close to 40 minutes before our order was completed. Adding insult to injury, she prepared other customers' drink orders who arrived and ordered after us, before she fulfilled our food orders. She totally forgot about my hummus order until I reminded her well over a half hour later. I don't necessarily blame her as it is not her fault that the business was understaffed.
I love what they are doing to help get cats off the streets, out of the kill shelters, and into a loving forever home. The concept is great but there are definitely some bugs that need to be worked out and some issues that need to be addressed and resolved.
I sincerely wish them the best of luck and hope that they will use this critique to make improvements. I hope that they have continued success and find forever homes for many more cats.
On a positive note, the employees were all very friendly, the food and drinks were great, and we did enjoy the overall experience of interacting with the cats.
Mauhaus employees and kitties are friendly and the space is a relaxing and fun atmosphere! I have been to Mauhaus twice and recently reserved the space for a birthday party. The staff was communicative, helpful, and they made really delicious treats for the party. The cats are laid-back and adorable. We will certainly be back!
